“Before politics became so compelling, I was a wood artist. I am a strong supporter of voting rights. My oldest aunts on both sides of my family reached adulthood at a time when women did not have the right to vote. When they fought for and finally gained that right, they voted in every single election as long as they were able to do so. When I saw some of our legislators trying to take that right away from people, I knew it was time to get to work and fight again. As a board member of the Apache County Democrats, I will work to empower and educate voters in our communities.” – Virginia “Ginny” Dotson, Treasurer/Secretary
“I look forward to collaborating with my fellow Apache County Democrats in reaching our goal of improving the quality of life for the citizens of Apache County. We will increase participation in elections and ensure that the voices of the people are heard in our state capital and in Washington. At the same time, we will strengthen our Apache County communities by working together to solve problems at the community level. Thanks for the opportunity to do good work.” – Dr. John Watts, Board Member at-large
“We are ready for a new beginning with our 44 precincts, and we appreciate everyone’s continued support. I am inspired by Stacey Abrams who said, ‘The formula for winning is clear: (1) reject the myths of who votes and why, (2) make early and sustained investment in outreach to an expanded voter pool, and (3) recruit and support candidates who demonstrate authentic and consistent beliefs.’ We will continue to strengthen our local Democratic Party, and we invite you to join us.” - Priscilla Weaver, Chair

The Apache County Democrats were significant in delivering Arizona for the Democrats forming a coalition with the Northeast Arizona Native Democrats to build and implement an effective campaign that increased voter registration across Apache County and successfully mobilized voters to defeat Donald Trump.
In 2020, Apache County had 51,906 registered voters, 35,776 of whom voted. This accounted for a 68.92% turnout. Local organizing through grassroots groups such as the Apache County Democrats was critical in producing this high turnout.
Apache County Dems will continue to increase civic engagement and education across the county by recruiting more precinct committee members. We look forward to their participation and leadership to impact Arizona politics and communities.
