WOMEN ARE GROUNDED IN COMMUNITY AND MAKE THE BEST ADVOCATES

In November, the country and the state of Arizona saw the power of Native American voters. Much of this success was due to the women in our families. Women like my mom Rosie, my aunt Ruth, sisters, and the many grandmothers who are central to our families. The women are grounded in community and because of that they make the best advocates.

NOW WE FACE NEW CHALLENGES

Republicans are actively working to suppress our vote. We have to stop them. Arizona Republican legislators have introduced several bills that will make it harder for all Arizonians, but especially impacting Indigenous voters in rural areas by:

  • Abolishing our Permanent Early Voting List (PEVL)

  • Requiring notarization of all mail ballots

  • Ballots returned in person

  • And other suppression tactics

THIS IS HOW YOU CAN HELP

On Sunday, May 9th, Mother’s Day, we will launch the Navajo County's Family Votes Program with the focus of reaching family matriarchs and supporting them in every way possible to register their families and communities. Our fundraising goal is $10,000 to successfully implement this initiative across the three Arizona counties that helped deliver election wins for the Democrats.

This is a key investment in 2021 and is essential to creating a stronger Democratic Party in Arizona.

HERE’S HOW TO DONATE: SECURE.ACTBLUE.COM/…

Navajo County Democrats Family Votes Program

The funds will support our matriarchs and directly invest in community. We will create and host PC, public narrative, organizing, digital, VAN, and registering to vote trainings and more. In addition to creating online and offline outreach materials, advertisements, and expand voter education efforts.

To stop these malicious and suppressive policies by Republicans we are working with our sister organizations in Coconino and Apache Counties to ramp up voter and civic engagement programs reaching Indigenous voters. Investing and turning out this large voting bloc for Democratic candidates is critical.

This past November showed, local organizing, especially by Indigenous women is effective.

Thank you for your support. Donate today.
